Good morning. I currently have a wowbb board. I would like to buy the Ultra software and have it hosted by the company that hosts all of my websites. http://www.inet7.com

I am technically challenged and have some basic questions:

Can all the members & threads etc. on my current forum be transfered to the ultra forum or do we have to start over?

How long does the process take?

Is inet7's tech stuff compatible with ultra?

What other question should i be asking?....

Thanks....and congratulations Jim on your new venture....kmc

All the WowBB stuff stays in tact, by demand I have a "converter" if you will but it's more of an "adder" and have converted many WowBB's to ultra boards.

The length of the process depends on several things. Usually we can have you up and going in 24 hours with only a short downtime for your board.

It's hard to tell 100% if it will be "compatable" with your host, but out of all the Ultra installs so far there has only been one problem, and I am addressing that 100% in version 1.12. A free upgrade as all of them will be.

You should ask the question "Why didn't I do this weeks ago?" :)

You are welcome Kevin and thank you for considering WowUltra for your forum software solution!

Jim

The reason I didn't ask "why didn't I do this weeks ago" was because I didn't know about your new venture until a wowbb member pm'd me about it....

i'm running out the door but here's the reply i got from our support guy at inet7:

RE: hosting questions

Hello Kevin,

Ok thanks for the heads up.  I took a quick peek at the requirements from the server side of things and it appears it will work just fine (php + MySQL).

Looks ok,
1. Search engine friendly URL's are not going to work
2. Spell check isn't going to work in IE

MySQL 4 is the thing to run on windows!

I think it will run fine but if you want, the day you decide to buy I'll load it on there first to make sure. It runs, you pay. It don't, I delete it and nobody looses a dime. This is because I've known you for a while.

MySQL 4 is the thing to run on windows!  does that mean MySQL 4.1 is good too?

When you are ready to buy a license, PM me with the FTP/MySQL info for the windows server. I'll install that evening. When it works, you click on pay pal!

Search engine friendly URL's change the gibberish that appears in the browser address bar to something that search engines like better. It helps you to be listed by google, msn, yahoo......

I don't like MySQL5 for windows. I even run 4.X on our server we do hosting on, and it's linux. :)

I'm getting my new wowultra board as I type and am EXTREMELY PLEASED with the personal service that I have received from Jim & Di during the process.

Throughout my professional life I have always done business with owner-operated businesses whenever possible and I just want to say thanks to Jim and Di for being the kind of people they are and offering the kind of product & service they do.

Just an update for people thinking of buying the new wowultra board now that it has been installed and my group of nearly 1,000 members have been using it for a couple of days.

1. 99.9% like it MUCH better than our previous board from an operation that was not nearly as "WOW" as this one. The new features are terrific.

2. The personal service I received during the transition from Jim & Di was above & beyond the call of duty and greatly exceeded my expectations.

(just as an example, I chose the "sea" them for my board; since I'm Irish and my website logo has a rainbow & a pot of gold on it, Di offered me a set of shamrocks that Jim integrated into my board in place of the seashells---that kind of thoughtfullness is greatly appreciated)

3. If WowUltra was listed on a stock exchange, I'd be an investor. :)

It's hard to believe that it's only been a little over two weeks since wowultra became the new home for our discussion board. Everything has been unpacked, the boxes are all gone---we really like our new home. :)
