Hi All.

I've ran a WoWbb Board for 3 years and just recently switched to Ultra. I'm very happy with the format, but still have a few issues. I don't want ti bug Jim and Di anymore than I have to, ( They've been GREAT)  and I'd bet that someone knows the answer to my problem.

My members are, for the most part not a very computer savvy group, and new members are having problems registering. The security code is great for keeping the spammers out, but it's keeping members out also.

I admit that I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the technical side of running a board. I think that there is a thread on here discussing the option of loosing the security code??

I've tried a search, but am probably not using the correct terms. For now, I want to loose the security code.  I love it in some ways, but it may be too good. I've had to make 3-4 attempts myself to register new members.  It's just a bit to cartoonish to distinguish 2's from S's. and it's not apparent whether there's a need to use upper and/or lower case letters to potential members.

I need a quick way to turn it off.

Hi there, you might want to go this route:

http://wowultra.com/forum/forum7/255.html

I plan on having an admin option to turn it off in the next version. I'll yank it for you if you want-

Jim,

I like the feature. However, It did take me multiple times (at least 5) to register here because the system kept telling me I entered the incorrect code. Maybe a different set of images for the code? I noticed that the "2" and the "8" look strikingly similar to the "S".

I for one am on the opposite side of this. I actually like that the font used in the captcha is hard to read. I would like some clarity in the description of pressing F5 until one something is clearly readable though. I guess something that stands out more than what is there. Perhaps something like "If the image/numbers/letters are unclear to you, press F5 until you get a defined image to register with".

You see, bots can't read although the spammers have found a way around captcha on most boards. Despite the use of captcha on another board I own (VB3 board), I have a bloated member list exceeding 1000+ members and 872 of those are bots. I'm slowly but surely deleting them. I have been forced to password protect a couple of forums just to keep the bots from getting through. I placed the passwords clearly in the forums descriptions and haven't had any problems with bots since. They still register but I don't have to delete their posts anymore.
